The Artists
The Artist in the Studio, is in the Permanent collection of the Albright-Knox Museum.
Sherry painted herself utilizing her super realistic technique of painting but portrayed herself as an abstract painter. She was questioning the validity of some abstract art that is hanging in important galleries and museums.

“Sherry Wolf’s work conveys a grandeur that inspires prolonged contemplation, not only for her masterful technique but equally for her exciting and inspiring visions that draws crowds around her oversized canvases.”
– Seymour Knox
“The Artists Series” is a profound exploration of the creative process and the internal universe of the artist. Each painting in this series not only captures the physical space of art creation but also delves into the psychological and emotional landscapes that fuel artistic expression. This collection is a celebration of creativity itself, manifest in the vividly chaotic and intensely personal spaces where art comes to life.
The first piece shows an artist at work, surrounded by an almost theatrical disarray of materials, her focus so intense that it seems to bring the surrounding objects to life. This painting captures the often overlooked messiness of creation, where beauty is born from chaos and the act of making art is both a struggle and a dance.
In the second painting, a female artist stands confidently amidst splatters of paint and scattered tools, her pose both casual and commanding, as if she’s the master of her vividly chaotic domain. The backdrop, a canvas exploding with colors and forms, acts as a visual metaphor for the artist’s mind—a spectrum of thoughts, inspirations, and emotions.
These works by Sherry offer a narrative that is as much about the art as it is about the artist. They reflect on the solitary nature of the creative process while also acknowledging the vibrant, often tumultuous journey artists undertake in their quest to create. “The Artists Series” not only captures the external realities of artistic life but also invites viewers to consider the internal resonances of the creative act, making it a compelling tribute to the spirit of artistry.
