POP

Debuted at Imago Galleries in Palm Desert.

Jerry Weintraub introduced the talented artist to art dealer Leisa Austin — owner of Imago Galleries. The two hit it off immediately and Sherry reentered her studio and started painting again, for the first time in nearly 4 years.  Inspired by her time in the Desert, the artist’s new series took on a decidedly Modernist flair.

The “POP Series” art collection is a striking homage to the Pop Art movement, reflecting its hallmark use of vibrant colors and bold patterns to comment on culture and society. Each piece juxtaposes models against backgrounds inspired by iconic visual motifs from artists such as Piet Mondrian and Victor Vasarely, infusing a contemporary edge with the stylized aesthetics of the 1960s.

The series creatively blends fashion with graphic art, as each model is intricately integrated into the vivid compositions that echo the dynamism and exuberance of Pop Art. The checkerboards, spirals, and geometric patterns not only serve as visually arresting elements but also as a narrative framework that enhances the model’s presence, suggesting a dialogue between the subject and the viewer about the intersection of art, fashion, and identity.

Moreover, the meticulous attention to styling, with outfits that complement and sometimes contrast with the backgrounds, highlights the series’ playful yet thoughtful approach to exploring how art influences perception and personal expression. This collection stands out for its ability to capture the spirit of an era while speaking to contemporary sensibilities, making it a compelling example of how classic art movements continue to inspire modern creativity.
